VAN STAAL SERVICE FACTORY SERVICE PROGRAM
Shaft and Flyer
- Remove and examine the titanium-nitride shaft.
- Remove and clean flyer.
- Inspect the counterweight.
- Inspect all mating parts for any excessive wear or corrosion pitting.
Pinion Gear Assembly
- Clean real body.
- Inspect pinion gear for excessive wear.
- Clean pinion gear.
- Replace main seal and o-ring on seal carrier.
- Ensure that shaft is properly lubricated and spins freely in sleeve guide.
Reassemble
- Reassemble the pinion gear assembly.
- Seat the water-tight main seal.
- Apply anti-seize to the retaining ring and tighten screws.
- Attach flyer applying anti-seize to the screws.
- Attach traverse guide to shaft checking and removing any side-to-side play.
- Pack pinion gear with proper grease.
- Properly lube the traverse guide.
- Apply oil to the shaft and body guides.
- Attach handle and assure the handle knob feels and rotates smoothly.
- Lube bottom of the drag knob.
Final Inspection
- Examine and inspect to ensure that we have performed and addressed everything the fisherman brought to our attention about his/her reel.
- Evaluate all mechanical reel movements to ensure that reel is in optimum condition and ready again to fish.
- Clean and wipe down the anodized aluminum body.
- Carefully package reel for return shipment.
Return Shipment
Unless otherwise specified, all Van Staal reels are shipped back via Fed-Ex ground service — indirect signature required. This assures you and us that your reel can be tracked and that it arrives safely back to you, ready to fish.
