VSX2 Bailed Black Spinning Reel
The Van Staal® VS Series reels have been the benchmark for durability and reliability for 30 years. The VS X2 Series is built on the VS foundation of simplicity and functionality and is made with the finest materials available for the No Limitations™ angler. The X2 retains all the features the VS Series reels have become known for while adding key improvements from top to bottom. New sizing rounds out the portfolio from back bays to the offshore tuna grounds. The new unibody design increases strength and sealing while the longer handle, power knob, and power drag knob increases both cranking power and drag pressure. The oversized clutch is now on the pinion side which results in immediate hook sets. With smaller and faster reels, the benefits of the VS X2 can now be experienced by the inshore angler.

I have hade over 80 staals in my life and hade just about every size cooler and model from USA vs vax etc. very highly recommend getting one of the older body styles. The x2 are still new and still got to work out there problems on all my x2s I have hade a problem. I have had an arm break gears stripping. And when you start to brake in the real the real starts to get smoother but when that starts to happen you will start going to cast it and the weight of the arm is so heavy it will spin the rotor, causing the line to catch the roller highly recommend the og staals but not a fan of the x2s.

OK. So I succumb to pear pressure and bought a VS.
This model 150 did not impress me when reeling in a 15# blue. No crank power. I had to walk back up the beach to gain line. Maybe a longer handle or something else would help. 30# braid also seems to birds nest over the spool too often. Not a great reel for me.

I must say I am truly impressed with the build and quality of this reel. I appreciate the simplicity, bullet prof design and have no issues with a manual bail. I do love bail less, grew up on a bailed Ocean City, but for live bait and boat versatility, Manual bail was the way to go for this one. I found this latest version to be much more refined and balanced than other old versions I have looked at in the past. I’m sold, worth it in every way and glad I took the plunge.
